Status validating identity

Then when all was lost I thought as "asdfsadf" did.

This seemed to work for me after I disconnected from my router and reconnected again.

However, you may have to go into "view wireless networks", and then choose "change order of preferred networks" in left corner of screen.

To resolve i went to the manufacturer site and downloaded the latest drivers for the wireless card, and any other drivers i could. I had the same problem with a toshiba satellite p30 running windows xp pro sp3 with an atheros 5004x wireless card.

I tried every solution I could find on the net but nothing worked.

To fix, you go into the properties page of your wireless connection, go to "Wireless Networks" tab and then to Properties of the chosen wireless network you are trying to connect to.

Then go to "authentification" tab and untick the box saying "Enable IEEE802.1x to the availiable network" and that should solve your problem Graham UKRight, Graham's solution worked for me.

I had been able to connect previously, but the connection would always indicate that it was validating. However, it didnt work, until I disconnected, turned the power off my Wi Fi, unchecked the tab in the authenticate dialog box, clicked ok, then switched the Wi Fi power back on, and reconnected.cheere Hadn't read all solutions so I apologize if I'm repeating someone but all I did was go back to Belkin router setup utility, or (192.168.2.1) and clicked "wi fi protected setup".Then, I selected disable at the "wi fi protected setup (wps)" option. After this remove your router from preferred networks list. I had this problem on a laptop (lenovo) which i reinstalled xp on.

This will allow you to pick your router from available wireless network again, and put in your encryption code. I tried all the other stuff like disabling 802.11 settings under properties blah blah ..nothing worked.
