My antivirus is not updating

I had proxy server activated in IE (internet options) and in the avtivir update settings. dont know why it was activated, never used a proxy. However, after last patch tuesday (13th of October) by M$ for Windows (which I updated on the 14th), Avira doesn't seem to automatically update anymore. Since I run as a Power User, I have to switch to my Admin account to do this. :-/ Here's a part of my update error log: [UPD] [INFO] Downloading of ' to 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\Anti Vir Desktop\TEMP\UPDATE\idx\master.idx'.

[UPDLIB] [ERROR] Download manager: An error occurred inside the Win INet library. [UPD] [INFO] Downloading of ' to 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\Anti Vir Desktop\TEMP\UPDATE\idx\master.idx'.

In my case, it changed the proxy settings as listed above, but some Scareware, viruses, malware, etc. If that happens, the normal web addresses you use to update your antivirus could be redirected right back to your system or to some malware server.

[UPDLIB] [ERROR] Download manager: An error occurred inside the Win INet library.

[UPD] [INFO] Downloading of ' to 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\Anti Vir Desktop\TEMP\UPDATE\idx\master.idx'.

[UPD] [WARNING] The update was terminated by the user. [UPD] [ERROR] Generation of update structure failed. When I use any of the IP's mentioned here paste in a browser to go to those IP's, they won't load either and they time out after a certain amount of time. I heard the avira servers are overloaded, but I personally believe that the update program has some bugs.

[UPDLIB] [ERROR] Download manager: An error occurred inside the Win INet library. My HOSTS file is not the issue, as it hasn't been altered in any way to my knowledge. If you are interested in free essays, try problem here. I am running Win XP SP 3 I had the version 8 installed and had no problems. If it doesn't, your "HOSTS" file may have been altered. Just move it on to your desktop temporarily to see if it fixes the problem.

Becuz I kept getting the nag popups to update to version 9 I did so, but it just won't update. Meaning I can install everything except programs that need to access my /windows/system or /system32 directories. That file is in the "Windows\System32\drivers" folder. You can download a new one that contains the default entries from Bleepingcomputer.

I searched Google for answers but haven't come across a satisfying solution so far. Click on the Connections tab, then the LAN Settings button. Remove the checks from all the boxes (unless you KNOW one of them should have the checkmark). MOVE it out onto your desktop (but remember where it went!! Restart the system for good measure and try updating Avira again. Just google "remove my security engine" and it's one of the first pages listed.

  1. So in general it comes down to speed & overhead vs. CURSORS are pretty much the slowest way to go, but have the least amount of overhead and are still useful even in MSSQL 2012 ...

  2. How to do this, we want to explain to you in our post: Just open the Google Play Store on your Samsung Galaxy S4. Here you see immediately in the second place the entry "Auto-Update Apps".
